Victoria Ogar is the new head of distribution at Nigerian film entertainment company FilmOne Limited, a company under the well-known FilmHouse Group. Her appointment appears to have been made in February, according to Ogar’s LinkedIn.
Given the length of time Ogar has occupied the position, her appointment was likely known by certain filmmakers and key stakeholders in Nigeria’s film business, but the news has only just floated to the public because Ogar updated her LinkedIn profile recently. Following the update, congratulations flooded her account.
Who is Victoria Ogar?
For Ogar, the new position is a promotion from account manager (sales and operations) at FilmOne. She has been in the business of film for almost a decade.
According to her LinkedIn account, she was account manager for more than three years. And before then, she had worked at FilmOne as assistant manager (Nollywood and independent films operations) for four years and six months.
As head of distribution for perhaps the most recognisable brand in the business of film distribution in Nigeria, Ogar has assumed a key role in Nollywood. Already, she has been thrown into the thick of things as FilmOne promotes Farmer’s Bride, a thriller starring Tobi Bakre, Femi Branch, and Gbubemi Ejeye. The film was produced by the company’s production outfit, FilmOne Studios.
So far, Farmer’s Bride has received critical acclaim and is doing well at the cinemas, having crossed the 100m naira mark a few weeks after its release. The film has also received international distribution and is showing across West Africa and Canada.
