Nollywood movie producer Bolanle Austen-Peters has declared a 10,000-acre film village in Epe, Lagos State open for hire. The site served as the primary location for the Yoruba epic House of Ga’a, which is currently streaming on Netflix.
The news came from Austen-Peters via a recent post on social media. “So many have asked where we shot House of GA’A on @netflixfilm @naijaonnetflix. This is it! BAP Productions Film Village in Epe.”
With its rolling hills and vast open spaces, the film village seems perfectly suited for epic productions. “Over 10,000 acres of land, rolling hills, huts, and other facilities. Open for hire,” Austen-Peters continued.
In the video accompanying her post, Austen-Peters gives an account of how the “greenery” and “dense forestation” of the land was shaped into the setting of her epic. “This is where we took all these beautiful shots you see in the movie,” she says in the video.
It has been quite an eventful several months for Austen-Peters. Earlier in the year, her film Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti won the Best Screenplay award at the AMVCA for its screenwriter Tunde Babalola. Upon its release in the cinemas, the film was toasted as the highest-grossing biopic in West Africa.
When her latest, House of Ga’a, was released on Netflix, it rose to the streamer’s Top 10 global chart for non-English films. Also written by Babalola, House of Ga’a features Femi Branch, Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Adedimeji Lateef and others.
