Nigerian filmmaker and CEO of EbonyLife Media, Mo Abudu, will deliver the keynote address at the National Film and Video Censors Board’s fourth Peace Ayiam Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference.
This announcement comes in a statement issued by Ogbonna Onuwumere, Director of Corporate Affairs at the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB). This statement was released on Thursday.
Scheduled for November 14 to 15 in Lagos, the conference is themed Film and Video Regulation in the Digital Age. Abudu’s keynote is titled From Local to Global: Developing Narratives and Contents for Worldwide Appeal.
NFVCB Executive Director, Shaibu Husseini, expressed excitement about Abudu’s involvement, praising Abudu’s passion for promoting African stories and commitment to excellence. ‘’We are thrilled to have Mo Abudu as our keynote speaker,” he said. “Her passion for promoting African stories and her commitment to excellence in the industry make her an ideal fit for this conference.”
Shaibu added that the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, will declare the conference open and will be the Chief Host. “The Minister’s presence, the first since the inception of the Nigeria Digital Content Conference, underscores the government’s commitment to the growth and development of the Creative sector.”
The two-day event, supported by Google, Netflix, TikTok, Multichoice, Cinemax, Film Distributors Association of Nigeria (FIDAN), FilmOne, and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) will feature panel discussions and breakout sessions on regulating digital content in Nigeria.
Recently, Abudu announced that her two upcoming projects, Her Perfect Life and Iyawo Mi (My Wife), will be released exclusively on Apple TV. Although a release date has yet to be announced, the films tackle the critical theme of mental health.
