The contestants are out! Organisers of the AMAA Awards have announced this year’s list of nominees and the two biggest film industries on the continent are in full-on dominant mode.
From Nigeria, Tribeca invitee The Weekend, by Daniel Oriahi, is up for 16 awards. From South Africa Jahmil X.T Qubeka’s Netflix sports drama The Queenstown Kings is up for 15 awards. Other multiple nominees include Kenneth Gyang’s This Is Lagos (Nigeria), Perivi Katjavivi’s Under The Hanging Tree (Namibia), Lonzo Nzekwe’s Orah (Nigeria), and Harry Bentil’s Letters To Goddo (Ghana).
Winners will be announced at the AMAA 2024 ceremony in Lagos on November 2.
