The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy is set to launch Destination 2030 Nigeria: Nigeria Everywhere, a cultural showcase on September 24.
The event, which is in collaboration with the National Council of Arts and Culture (NCAC) and the African International Film Festival (AFRIFF), will take place at the United Nations General Assembly.
“Destination 2030, Nigeria is set to establish Nigeria as the leading global hub for arts, culture, and creativity,” reads the vision statement.
“It is a national strategy with the vision of positioning Nigeria as a leading influence of creative expression and cultural exchange. Accelerating the transformation of the arts, culture and creative economy into a primary force for economic growth and shared prosperity.”
Hannatu Musa Musawa, head of the ministry, emphasised that the event, which is supported by the Africa Export-Import (AFREXIM) Bank, will celebrate Nigeria’s vibrant creative industries while highlighting the nation’s diverse cultural heritage.
Speaking through her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Nneka Ikem Anibeze, Musawa noted, “This cultural experience is not just an event but a celebration of Nigeria’s creative spirit and cultural heritage. It provides a unique opportunity to highlight Nigeria’s creative talents on a global stage, foster international collaborations, and promote the growth of Nigeria’s creative economy.”
The event is expected to draw policymakers, creators, government officials, and key stakeholders from various sectors. Attendees will be treated to an evening filled with cultural conversations and artistic performances. The event will include insightful discussions with thought leaders and influencers from the arts and culture sectors, live performances by talented Nigerian artists showcasing both traditional and contemporary music, and a fashion show featuring Nigerian fashion designers.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in visual arts exhibitions by some of Nigeria’s most talented artists, while savoring Nigerian cuisine prepared by top chefs, offering a taste of the country’s diverse and rich culinary traditions.
Musawa further explained, “Through the transformation of the arts, culture, and creative economy, the ministry is building a vibrant ecosystem that will establish Nigeria as the epicenter of artistic creativity, cultural diversity, and innovative excellence.”
