A second season of the Nigerian series Blood Sisters has been commissioned by Netflix. While the late Biyi Bandele and Kenneth Gyang were in charge of the first season, the second season will see Kayode Kasum and Daniel Oriahi in the director’s chair.
As with the first season, the new directors will work over four episodes, each taking two episodes each. According to a source familiar with the plans, Kasum will direct the first two episodes. Oriahi, who is enjoying a great year, will helm the last two episodes.
The announcement was made by Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife Studios, creators of the series: “I’m thrilled to share that BLOOD SISTERS 2 is officially in motion, and we had the most amazing table read this past week!”
She followed up with an introduction of the crew members, including the aforementioned directors. “Netflix thank you for believing in us and giving us the opportunity to create even more magic!” she wrote.

Once again, three South Africans, Craig Freimond, Zeli Zulu, and Adze Ugah, will be penning the series, which follows the aftermath of best friends Sarah (Ini Dima-Okojie) and Kemi (Nancy Isime) murdering Sarah’s abusive fiancé, Kola (Deyemi Okanlawon), by accident.
Dima-Okojie and Isime will be joined by familiar faces from the first season, including Kate Henshaw, Uche Jombo, and Genoveva Umeh. New additions to the cast include Michelle Dede, Ifeanyi Kalu, Ben Lugo Touitou, Bolaji Ogunmola, and Mike Afolarin.
“While it’s still a little while before BLOOD SISTERS 2 hits your screens, we are in pre-production and gearing up for filming in just a few weeks! Expect twists, turns, and edge-of-your-seat drama!,” Abudu wrote.
Blood Sisters was released in 2022. It is the first Nigerian Original TV series. At the time, Abudu told US publication Variety of her ambitions for the project.
“We want it to do well in Nigeria, because of course it’s a very Nigerian story,” she said, “but we believe the world is ready to take on these Nigerian stories in the global space.”
