“The Village Next to Paradise” by Mo Harawe won big at Austria’s Diagonale Awards, taking home several awards including Best Feature Film.

The Legend of the Vagabond Queen of Lagos and The Village Next To Paradise are going to Berlin.

Acclaimed projects from Senegal, Zambia, and Somalia will be screening at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.

K’naan Warsame’s Mother Mother, set in Somalia, won the FIPRESCI Jury Award at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.

“Anab delivers a powerful and unforgettable performance,” said Sarajevo Film Festival jury member Sebastian Cavazza in presenting the award.

Mo Harawe’s The Village Next to Paradise is one of 29 films eligible for nominations ahead of the European Film Awards.

K’naan and Afolabi Olalekan will join Oscar winners Christopher Nolan and Barry Jenkins as filmmakers selected by TIFF’s Discovery section.
