The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) has crowned Freedom Way produced by Blessing Uzzi as the Best Movie for this year’s award. Freedom Way is directed by Afolabi Olalekan.
Femi Adebayo won the Best Lead Actor award, while Chioma Chukwuka won the Best Lead Actress award for the series Seven Doors, with Lisabi: The Uprising taking home the prize for Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa).
The Best Supporting Actor award went to Gabriel Afolayan for his role in Inside Life, while Mercy Aigbe won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Farmer’s Bride. The Best Director award was won by Awam Amkpa for The Man Died.
Other notable winners included Tongai Furusa winning the Best Editing for Inkabi, Abel Mutua Musyoka winning Best Writing (TV Series) for Untying Kantai, and Ifeoluwa Fatogun and Ebi Atawodi winning the Best Documentary for Dundun.
Speaking on this year’s awards, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels, MultiChoice, Busola Tejumola, said: “The AMVCAs reflect the ambition of a continent in motion. These stories are no longer emerging, they are defining global conversations. Africa Magic and MultiChoice are proud to be the platform of that power.”
As with earlier editions, the AMVCA 2025 ceremony recognised industry icons: Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh received the Industry Merit Awards. Director Kayode Kasum was honoured with the Trailblazer Award.
