The European Union (EU) has teamed up with the Eastern Nigeria International Film Festival (ENIFF) to launch the European Union Filmmaking Impact Lab. The collaboration will take place under the theme, Youth, Democracy and Inclusive Society.
This initiative was announced by the European Union in Nigeria on Instagram: “The European Union (EU), in collaboration with the Eastern Nigeria International Film Festival presents the EU Short Film Competition and Filmmaking Impact Lab. The competition aims at enriching participants’ knowledge in modern filmography and exposing them to emerging trends in the industry.”
Filmmakers are invited to submit short films lasting 1 to 3 minutes to compete for the cash prize of ₦1m to produce their short documentary films.
Additionally, it added that the Impact Lab will offer an impact filmmaking masterclass for emerging filmmakers passionate about addressing social issues through their craft. A short documentary grant is also up for grabs. To enter for the documentary grant, applicants are required to fill the application form and submit a documentary synopsis before November 20.
How To Apply
To apply for the European Union Filmmaking Impact Lab, applicants will need to submit their full name, email address, gender, WhatsApp contact, and a synopsis of their story, which should be no more than 250 words.
The winners in each category will be announced following the screening of six selected entries at the Eastern Nigeria International Film Festival, scheduled to take place from November 27 to 30
In an earlier Instagram post, the European Union (EU), also announced its Short Film Competition in a collaboration with the Eastern Nigeria International Film Festival.
Aspiring filmmakers are invited to submit their applications and create a short film lasting 1-3 minutes to enter the competition.
The deadline for application remains November 20, 2024, and the winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of ₦1 million courtesy of the EU, with the grand finale hosting at the Eastern Nigeria International Film Festival.
