The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) has announced nominees for 2024. Among its nominees are several young Nollywood stars.
Under the theme “Celebrating the Great and Daring” and spanning 23 categories, the 2024 nominations highlight young achievers in several fields, including education, law, professional services, entrepreneurship, agriculture, content creation, technology, photography, music, and filmmaking. The last is split between persons in front of the camera (“acting”) and those behind (“film”).
This year, the Film category has the following nominees: Akinkunle Michael Akinrogunde (aka AMA Psalmist), Praise Onyeagwalam (aka Director Pink), Tola Okodugha, Fadamana Okwong, and Feyifunmi Oginni. The Acting category nominees are Genoveva Umeh, Uche Montana, Mike Afolarin, Kayode Ojuolape, and Jide Oyegbile (J-Blaze).
In a statement accompanying the list of nominees, Ayodeji Razaq, Executive Director of The Future Awards Africa, said, “It is with profound pride that we unveil this year’s nominees, a group that exemplifies the best of our continent.
“Their audacious vision and groundbreaking accomplishments have earned them a rightful place among the ‘Great and Daring.’ We are honoured to celebrate their contributions and look forward to the transformative work they will continue to do.”
Elsewhere in the list of nominees are skit maker Isaac Olayiwola (Layi Wasabi), Folagade Banks (Mama Deola), Chimamanda Chukwuma Pearl (Qing Madi), Daniel Etiese Benson (BNXN), and Michael Adebayo Olayinka (Ruger).
The jury members include Paul Onwuanibe, Founder & Group CEO, Landmark Group, ID Cabasa, Music Producer & Innovator, Omoyemi Akerele, Founder & CEO, Lagos Fashion Week, Tega Oghenejobo, COO, Mavin Global, Dr. Yemisi Akinbobola, Co-founder, African Women in Media (AWiM), and Ifeoma Okonkwo, Director of Finance, Mavin Records.
Established in 2004 by Chude Jideonwo and Adebola Williams, The Future Awards is a recognition of achievements among young Africans. It honours young achievers between 18 and 31 years old across fields. A date for the 2024 awards ceremony is yet to be announced.
