Nigerian filmmaker Jade Osiberu has launched a YouTube channel. She shared the news earlier today on Instagram post.
In the video, in which she revealed that the channel is named SmashHit, she recalls her early days as a creator on the streeaming platform via the NdaniTV account. Which explains why her Instagram post began with the words, “The OG YouTuber is back!”
“I actually started my career as a YouTube content creator,” she says in the video. “Writing and producing shows like Gidi Up, The Juice, Skinny Girl in Transit. So, I’m going back to my roots.”
The channel will kick off with Osiberu’s earliest film project, Isoken. A romantic comedy, Isoken marked Osiberu’s first foray into the Nollywood film industry and was greeted with critical acclaim. Since then, the director and producer has had a successful career making films like Sugar Rush, Brotherhood, The Trade, and Gangs of Lagos.
In the video, she recalls making these films, saying that she has been “very fortunate to make some of Nigeria’s biggest films. Honestly, we’re just getting started. Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be announcing some projects”.
Just days ago, Osiberu announced that her new film will be available on streaming platforms in December. The movie will appear on Amazon’s streaming platform, Prime Video in December. It stars Adekunle Gold, Ayra Starr, Teniola A. Aladese, Shalom C. Obiago, Rayxia Ojo, Shaffy Bello, and Ladipoe.
